Naica
Imagine entering an extremely hostile environment. A labyrinth 290 metres below the surface of the earth, made of tunnels and gorges made slippery by condensation. An infernal circle where the temperatures reach 50°C and the humidity touches 100%. Under these conditions, the human body can survive only a few minutes.
Now think of a fantastic world, so extraordinary as to leave you speechless. A fascinating environment brimming with enormous selenite crystals that seem to defy the very laws of physics. The gigantic opalescent columns crowd the cave in wondrous chaos, silent witnesses to 26 million years of history.
Now combine these images of heaven and hell in the largest geode on Earth. Welcome to the Cueva de los Cristales, in the Sierra di Naica in Mexico .
To explore this cave, researchers require special equipment that allows them to resist as long as possible in a hellish climate. The clothing must be especially safe and tested, because even a minimum defect may be fatal.
This is why Ferrino offered to collaborate with the La Venta speleological association in creating a special thermal suit that is very similar to space suits. Its name is Tolomea, like the region of Dante’s inferno where the sinners are condemned to imprisonment in a frozen wasteland. It is not by chance that the suit has special lining cavities designed to create a cooling layer of ice to maintain tolerable temperatures.
Various layers of insulating material complete the suit, together with a special portable breathing device, which is absolutely necessary in the torrid atmosphere of the Cueva.
These characteristics have allowed speleologists to prolong their studies in the cave up to 80 minutes.
A unique experience that Ferrino has succeeded in making the jewel in the crown of products it offers: the HighLab clothing line.
